Dairy processing equipment & fabrication

Silos, powder hoppers, cyclones, modular dryers, milk tankers and trailers and more. We design and build stainless steel equipment for global dairy processors — the industry Longveld was founded to serve in 1992.

Where Longveld started, and still leads the way

Pam and Les Roa started Longveld in 1992 as a stainless steel site installation specialist for New Zealand’s dairy sector. We quickly grew to fabricate and install for international projects. More than three decades on, we still design, fabricate and install the equipment that keeps dairy products moving from farm to plate.

We work side by side with processors and OEMs, including customers like Fonterra, GEA, Tetra Pak and Synlait. One team handles consultancy, design, fabrication and installation, so there’s no hand-off between drawing and site.

What we build for dairy

Tanks and silos

Cream, chilled water, CIP and balance tanks, from 1m³ up to 100m³ silos. For a butter plant run by a major NZ dairy processor we built five 80m³ crystallising cream silos, dimple-jacketed from top to bottom.

Bulk powder hoppers

Six 14m long 90m³ hoppers, engineered and fabricated for a global dairy OEM’s project at a Waikato powder plant. Each one was transported in a single piece.

Cyclones

Two 17m cyclones for a 30-tonne spray dryer at an export dairy site in Canterbury, built for an international processing OEM. Six more followed for dairy plants across new Zealand.

Modular dryers

A compact modular powder dryer built as bolt-together pods for a North Island dairy company. The site went from concrete pad to multi-storey building in a matter of days.

Milk tankers and trailers

In partnership with TRT, we designed a 5-axle rear-steer trailer prototype for a national milk collection fleet. It was designed to cope with tight on-farm turning circles and carries a low centre-of-gravity free-flow barrel that reduces milk deterioration and fleet running costs, and improves driver safety.

Truck retrofits

A national dairy fleet’s sole truck retrofit partner since 1999. Our redesigned barrel mounting system cut annual truck retrofit costs by 63%.
