Public art & architectural fabrication

We bring an artist’s design to life with combinations of different metals made for a long life outdoors. Sculpture, pou and gateways for major highway projects, councils, iwi, schools and arts trusts, across the motu.

Imagine it. We’ll engineer it.

For every artwork we balance the funders’ requirements with holding the artist at the center of the project. We sit down with them early, model the idea in 3D, test the tricky parts in metal, and plan how the piece will be made, moved and installed. We work alongside the artist through all stages to ensure their vision is protected and elevated.

Funders range from transport agencies, city councils and public art trusts to iwi organisations and tertiary institutes.

What we build for public art and architecture

Large-scale sculpture

Roadside landmarks like a 14-metre steel sculpture on a South Island highway, built for alpine sun, snow and wind.

Pou & cultral works

Made with Māori artists and mana whenua, from pou whenua in a city centre to a waka form beside a motorway.

Gateways & entrances

A 5.5-metre stainless steel gateway that marks the entrance to a school.

Interior & architectural pieces

A Haast eagle in stainless, copper and timber, suspended above the boardroom of an iwi organisation.

Mixed materials

Polished, coloured and bead-blasted stainless, weathering and galvanised steel, paired with timber and copper.

International delivery

A donated artwork, built in our Hamilton workshop, and packed to reassemble cleanly on arrival in Belgium.

Why artists and commisioners build with us

____

The artist’s intent, kept

We solve the structure around the design, so the finished piece still reads like the drawing.

____

Tested first

On a highway artwork, the road authority checked our prototype panels for glare on sunny days before we built.

____

Engineered for public spaces

Structural design for wind, load and decades outdoors, beside highways, rivers and schools.

____

Installation handled

A 16.2 metre piece went up in three-minute motorway closures. We plan lifts like that from day one.
