This concept trailer was designed to revolutionize Fonterra’s milk collection capabilities, with superior milk handling, improved driver experience and reduced cost per kilometer.
Our collaboration with TRT to design and develop a 5 Axle Rear Steer Trailer represents our commitment to engineering solutions that combine functionality, safety, and environmental consciousness.
The trailer’s standout feature is its remarkable maneuverability, capable of turning in a 25m space thanks to its rear steering capability. We engineered it with a lower center of gravity to improve speed consistency, momentum, and cornering performance, making it not only more efficient but significantly safer for drivers to handle.
Safety was paramount in our design process. The trailer’s engineering ensures more effective emergency braking, while the improved handling characteristics reduce driver fatigue and enhance control in challenging conditions.
Beyond safety, we focused on efficiency at every level. The Free Flow tank shape significantly reduces product and chemical residual, while the longitudinal baffle provides greater structural integrity and reduces “slosh”—a critical factor in preventing fat damage during milk transport.
Maintenance accessibility was another key consideration. The chassis design allows for easier cleaning and maintenance, reducing downtime and extending operational life. Combined with improved fuel efficiency, these features deliver substantial operational cost savings over the trailer’s lifetime.
